ACCESS STATEMENT FOR ASHMOUNT COUNTRY HOUSE, HAWORTH, WEST YORKSHIRE

INTRODUCTION

Jasper, Matthew, Alison and the team welcome you to their guest house, located in the beautiful village of Haworth, famous for its connections with the Bronte family. Indeed, Ashmount is actually the former home of Dr Amos Ingham, physician to Charlotte Bronte and her father Patrick.

This is a summary of the facilities available at Ashmount Country House. The decor throughout is individual to each room and the accommodation is well lit through natural daylight and good electric lighting. There is full central heating throughout. The floor covering is short-pile carpet throughout our guest house. Each room has remote controlled colour TV and refreshment tray.

PRE-ARRIVAL

We are located on Mytholmes Lane only a gentle stroll from Bronte Parsonage and the village centre. We should inform you, if you haven’t previously visited Haworth, the village is situated on a hillside location and the main street is quite a steep hill with cobbled road. ARRIVAL AND CAR PARKING FACILITIES

We have a small car park that is run on a first come first serve basis so please be aware we cannot guarantee a space in the car park during busier periods. There is also free on-street parking with plenty of private car parks around Haworth.  The drive is tarmac and is level to the entrance.

MAIN ENTRANCE

The entrance is to the rear of the property. There are 2 stone steps, the first, 9cm high and 47cm deep, up to a further step, 13cm high bringing you to the main entrance door. There is a door bell located 1.5m high. The doorway is 86cm wide and there is a 12cm step bringing you into the hall and reception area.

RECEPTION

The floor covering is the original tiling from when the property was built. Our two breakfast rooms are located off the hall as well as the main staircase to the first floor.

BREAKFAST ROOM 1 and BREAKFAST ROOM 2

This breakfast room is accessed via a door, 86cm wide opening into the room. There are 6 tables in each room which are 72cm high. The chairs at these tables are between 42cm and 46cm high.

BEDROOMS

We have 8 letting bedrooms – 6 four-poster doubles, 2 of these rooms can fit an extra single bed.  2 doubles, one of these can be made into a twin.

Our rooms are all individual and have names rather than numbers. Amos Ingham’s, The Greenwood Room, The Honeypot, The Dispensary and Dr McCracken’s are all located on the first floor. This is accessed via a main stairway from the entrance hall. There are 14 stairs, 18cm high, 27cm deep and 100cm wide up to a landing then a further 6 stairs of the same dimensions bringing you to the first floor.

Amos Ingham’s

A four-poster double room accessed via a door 78cm wide opening into the bedroom. The bed is 63cm high and has bedside units to either side with lamps. There is a 2-seat sofa and chair, 49cm high, wardrobe and dressing table with mirror. Access to the en-suite shower room is via door 77cm wide. The basin is 84cm high with a mirror and light above. There is a 21cm step up to the WC which is 43cm high and the shower cubicle which has a double-head power shower. There is 10cm step up into the shower unit through a doorway 53cm wide. The room overlooks the garden and surrounding countryside.

The Greenwood Room

A four-poster double room accessed via a door 76cm wide opening into the bedroom. The bed is 67cm high and has bedside units to either side with lamps. There is a chaise longue, 36cm high, 2 chairs, 38cm high, clothes cupboard and dresser with mirror. Access to the en-suite shower room is via door 77cm wide. The basin is 85cm high with a mirror and light above. There is a 22cm step up to the WC which is 43cm high. The shower cubicle, which has a double-head power shower, is accessed up a 10cm step through a doorway 53cm wide. The room overlooks the garden and surrounding countryside.

The Honeypot

A four-poster double room accessed via a door 76cm wide opening into the bedroom. The bed is 69cm high and has bedside units to either side with lamps. There is a wardrobe, 4 drawer unit and 2 chairs, one 36cm high and one 39cm high. Access to the en-suite bath and shower room is via door 62cm wide. There is a 2-person spa bath which is 62cm high. The basin is 83cm high with a mirror and light above and the WC is 42cm high. There is also a walk in shower cubicle, which has a shower and is accessed up a 7cm step through double opening doors. The room overlooks the village and surrounding countryside.

The Dispensary

A double room accessed via a door 75cm wide opening into the bedroom. The bed is 61cm high and has bedside units to either side with lamps. There is a wardrobe, dressing table with mirror, occasional table and 2 chairs, 34cm high. This room has a private bathroom which is located across the hall and is accessed via a door 63cm wide. There is a combined bath with shower and the bath height is 55cm. The basin is 85cm high with a mirror and light above and the WC is 42cm high. The room overlooks the garden and surrounding countryside.

Dr McCracken’s Room

A triple room accessed via a door 76cm wide opening into the bedroom. There are 3 single beds in this room, all of which are 61cm high. There is a wardrobe, 4 drawer unit, dresser, table, mirror and 2 chairs, 36cm high. Access to the en-suite shower room is via a door 63cm wide opening into the shower room. There is a basin, 84cm high and WC 40cm high. The shower cubicle is accessed through a doorway 58cm and up a step 17cm high and has a double-head power shower. The room overlooks the village and surrounding countryside.

The Secret Garden Spa, The Sanctuary Spa and The Serenity are all ground floor rooms and can be accessed at ground floor level from the side of the property. From the main entrance, there is a level, tarmac and paved pathway to the side of the house where you will find a door bringing you into a hall off which are located these three rooms.

The Secret Garden Spa

A double room accessed up 3 steps, 16cm high and through a doorway 73cm wide opening into the bedroom. There is a double bed, 59cm high with bedside units and lamps. There is a wardrobe, two 4-drawer units and 2 chairs, 36cm high. Access to the en-suite shower room is via a door 64cm wide opening into the shower room. There is a 7cm step into a walk-in shower with power shower. There is basin, 83cm high, with a mirror and light above and a WC, 41cm high. From the bedroom there is direct access, via a doorway 74cm wide and down 2 steps, one 21cm high and 46cm deep and one 27cm high, bringing you down onto your own private patio with sun loungers, 36cm high and hot-tub. Access to the hot-tub is up steps, one 20cm high, one 17cm high and finally a 45cm step up into the hot-tub.

The Serenity

A double room accessed via a door 80cm wide opening into the bedroom. The bed is 59cm high with a bedside unit and lamp to one side of the bed. There is a wardrobe, occasional table and 2 chairs, 45cm high. The en-suite shower room is accessed via a door 63cm wide. There is a basin, 84cm high with a mirror and light to the left of the basin and the WC is 42cm high. The shower cubicle is accessed up a step 7cm high through a double opening door. Access to the hot-tub is up steps, one 20cm high, one 17cm high and finally a 45cm step up into the hot-tub.

The Sanctuary Spa

A double room accessed through a doorway 83cm wide opening into the bedroom. There is a double bed, 60cm high with bedside units and lamps. There is a built-in wardrobe, a 4-drawer unit and 2 chairs, 34cm high. Access to the en-suite bathroom is via a door 84cm wide opening into the bathroom. There is a combined bath with shower and the height of the bath is 55cm. There is basin, 84cm high, with a mirrored vanity unit and light above and a WC, 42cm high. From the bathroom there is direct access, via a doorway 66cm wide and up a 17cm step bringing you onto your own private decked patio with sun loungers, 36cm high and hot-tub. Access to the hot-tub is up steps, one 20cm high, one 17cm high and finally a 45cm step up into the hot-tub.

GARDEN

From the main entrance and car park we have a large, well established garden on 2 levels. The garden is accessed down a gently sloping pathway to a lawn with tables and chairs. If you turn left at the top of the garden and take the pathway, this brings you down to the second lawn with sun loungers, table and chairs. This garden is accessed down 12 shallow steps.
